NYC Beating Hearts Initiative

We were thrilled to launch the NYC Beating Hearts Initiative spearheaded by Councilman Steven Matteo. On Monday, February 29, 2016 at Susan Wagner HS we presented 12 AED's with Council Members Steven Matteo, Joe Borelli and Debbie Rose and training 50 people in CPR. We travelled weekly for the next few months to donate and train organizations in all 5 Boroughs. What a great way to end Heart Health Month! By that June, we taught 780 students and donated 189 AEDs. In 2017, we bumped up in numbers, teaching 797 students and donating 188 AEDs. Further, we assisted Borough President James Oddo on "The Heart Project." Last year, taught over 60 classes, 800 new students, and donated over 200 AEDs. In addition, we can proudly say that one of our defibrillators donated through this initiative successfully saved someone in Corona, Queens last June! Though we never wish for anyone to have to use an AED, we are glad knowing that it is there whenever needed. We also were contacted last July that a man saved his daughter using CPR!

In 2019, we are proud to say that we have kept up the pace with 62 classes, 816 new students, and donated another 200 AEDs!!

We  are very excited to announce that we will be continuing to work with the NYC Council Offices for a renewed Beating Hearts Initiative for the 2020 fiscal year.
